FAQs

Why should I work with you versus someone else?

Here at Balanced Life Solutions, we have been working with neurodivergent individuals for almost 20 years. We know how hard it can be to find a neurodivergent-affirming clinician. We firmly believe assessment and therapy should be accessible. We are ready to meet you where you are, and work with you where you want to be.

Will you give me a diagnosis?

If you are going through the assessment process, you will receive a diagnosis, as well as recommendations as to what the next steps will be concerning your new diagnosis (just like when you visit your doctor). You may or may not receive a diagnosis if you are seen for therapy.

Do you accept insurance?I do! I work with a company called Sondermind which allows me to bill with some insurances. I currently accept United, Cigna, and BCBS. I also can provide a Super Bill, which is a fancy receipt that you can submit to your …

Do you accept insurance?

We currently do not accept insurance, but this is why we provide sliding scale rates for therapy and payment plans for assessments.

What are your fees?

Our LPC-A fees are $70 per 50 minute session, but we offer a sliding scale to those who qualify. Testing fees are variable, but are billed at $150 per clinical hour (this includes interview and testing done while the clinician must be present, as well as the time needed for report writing). Most testing services require 2-6 clinical hours of work, but this is just an estimate. We are willing to work with you to make these fees manageable, as we want to keep assessment accessible.

Do you see people who aren’t neurodivergent?

Yes! We work well with people with depression, anxiety, parenting, and a variety of other concerns. We also work with loved ones of neurodivergent individuals who may be seeking further understanding of their loved one’s neurotype.

How long is the entire process?

If you are seeking individual counseling services, this timeline is highly unique. Given that many of our clients are neurodivergent, it is not uncommon for therapeutic relationships to take 6 months to several years depending on the situation. The length of your treatment does not indicate the success or failure of your experience with therapy.

If you’re seeking testing, the process will include a few hours of testing on your own, an interview session, some additional “face-to-face” testing, and then the write-up process. This all typically takes approximately 2-6 weeks depending on the time of year.

What is neurodivergence?

While there are many forms of neurodivergence and the definition is fluid, neurodivergence is most commonly associated with autism, ADHD, or learning differences. It’s possible to also have more than one of these diagnoses.

Neurodivergent individuals often feel that they are at odds with the world around them, but that’s because the world was built primarily for neurotypicals, by neurotypicals. We can help you or your neurodivergent loved one find ways to advocate for and cope with these differences.
